USF Honors College

Welcome to the Honors College

Dean Charles Adams, Ph.D. Welcome to the Honors College of the University of South Florida! This is my first year as Dean of the College, having succeeded Dr. Stuart Silverman following his retirement after 44 years of service to USF and 12 years as Founding Dean of the Honors College. Through this transition, the mission of the Honors College remains the same: to develop tomorrow’s leaders by providing first-rate educational opportunities to the most highly motivated, intellectually curious, and academically accomplished students at USF. We strive to create a tight-knit intellectual community by:

  • offering an interdisciplinary honors curriculum featuring small classes taught by engaged and creative faculty
  • providing an honors residential experience
  • supporting student achievement with expert individual advising and a highly successful Office of National Scholarships
  • sponsoring co-curricular opportunities in community development, global studies, and leadership
  • encouraging each student to pursue a significant and rewarding research experience that takes advantage of USF’s resources as a Top-50 Research Institution

Year after year, Honors College graduates go on to great careers in both the public and private sectors, and win admission to top-flight medical schools, law schools, and other graduate programs. That success is built on an academic experience characterized by personal attention, extensive student-faculty interaction, challenging course materials, and a classroom atmosphere emphasizing thoughtful analysis and communication skills. Please take a few minutes to look through this website to discover all that the Honors College has to offer. I think you’ll agree that the USF Honors College is a very special place!
