USF Honors College

Welcome to the Honors College

Dean Stuart Silverman, Ph.D. I am most pleased to announce that after a national search, Dr. Charles Hansford Adams will become our Honors College Dean effective August 4, 2014. Dr. Adams majored in English and Philosophy at Tulane University, New Orleans, where he was inducted into Phi Beta Kappa. His MA and PhD degrees were earned at the University of Virginia. Dr. Adams has spent the last 28 years at the University of Arkansas as Professor of English and Administrator.

Dean Adams is passionate about students and their education. He believes strongly in study abroad and wants to expand Honors College offerings and seeks to add new travel destinations to the College portfolio. Dr. Adams understands how important it is for students to learn about other cultures and he knows how such exposure enhances a university education. He will motivate increasing numbers of students to travel abroad, learning and enjoying along the way.

Dr. Adams knows that practical, ‘real world’ experiences are critical to an education and will develop internships in both the private and public sectors. These will be an important addition to the College and will make Honors College graduates even better prepared for whatever they choose to do. Please join me in welcoming Dean Adams and wishing him well. Make Dr. Adams feel at home and whether you are a College staff member, student, graduate, supporter or soon to be retired Dean, let him know that we are here for him, to help and support in any way we can.
