Honors College

Dean's Update:

    Let me know if you will enter the Playwriting contest.


    If you have not taken a core Honors class in two semesters (not counting summers), we will remove your Honors designation.  It is that designation that allows for early registration. 


    Those of you who want to apply for our study abroad scholarships, please make sure you have an ePortfolio.



  • Research Opportunity Various Skillsets Needed

    Research Assistants will be on a volunteer basis initially with the opportunity to publish and work with numerous researchers in the College of Medicine.  Stipends will be available over time.  No course prerequisites needed students with graphic design, programming, software design, statistics, public health, and psychology background are ideal.  See link below for projects in need of assistance.   • Graduation Spring

    If you are planning to graduate this semester, please go to the Honors website/current students/graduation and "name your plan to graduate".  After the University''s application process is complete, we will send a request for additional information.


  • Challenge Grant Program

    If you are planning to attend graduate school here at USF, this session would be a very valuable one for you to attend.

  • 2011 Admits 7 Year Program Declaration

    If you are a first year Honors student following the BS/MD 7 Year track, you must officially declare this track by Friday, April 13, 2012.  To do so, simply go to the BS/MD webpage, Fall '111 Admit tab, and complete the BS/MD Interest Declaration Form.   You must do this even if you indicated 7 Year interest on your initial application paperwork. Late submissions cannot be accepted. Contact Amy Sturrock at asturrock@honors.usf.edu with questions.

  • Cell Biology and General Physiology Tutors Needed

    The Holcombe Scholars Program is currently looking for tutors for Cell Biology (PCB 3023) and General Physiology (PCB 3712). Interested applicants MUST have an overall 3.3 GPA, have taken the course at USF, and received an A in the respective course. Applications should be submitted by following the link provided.

  • Florida Gubernatorial Fellowship Program puts you in the Governors Office

    The FL Gubernatorial Fellows Program gives you firsthand insight into how the government operates. Students spent two semesters working alongside state government top staff. More information can be found at www.floridafellows.com.

    The USF deadline to apply for the Udall Scholarship is Januay 20, 2012. This scholarship is for students pursuing a career in environment science and policy.

  • New Whitaker International Undergraduate Program for Biomedical Engineering Students Deadline March 15

    The application will be made available early January 2012 for the first round of grants which will be for Fall/Academic Year 2012-2013.

    With support from the Former Whitaker Foundation, IIE will provide undergraduate biomedical engineers and bioengineers funding for a semester or one academic year to pursue, in an international setting, coursework in biomedical engineering.

    To be eligible for the award, an applicant must be a US citizen or have permanent residency status, be enrolled as a sophomore, junior or senior (with at least one semester remaining) and demonstrate a need for financial support to study abroad.

  • Summer NSF REU at The Childrens Hospital of Philadelphia

    The Center for Injury Research and Prevention (CIRP) at The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, in partnership with the University of Pennsylvania, announces 10-week paid summer research internships for undergraduate students. CIRP is a leading multi-disciplinary center engaged in collaborative research implementing real world applications. The Injury Science Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU) Site program (sponsored by the National Science Foundation) will provide students with mentorship and hands-on research experiences in the fields of engineering, behavioral science, public health, epidemiology, population science and statistics as applied to pediatric injury science (i.e., prevention of injury secondary prevention, post-injury/traumatic stress). The program will provide students with a stipend, housing at the University of Pennsylvania if needed, and a contribution toward travel expenses.
