New Front Desk Sign In
When visiting the Honors College, students will now need to bring with them their USF ID card. A new sign in system has been installed at the front desk to allow the Honors staff to better track the number of students seen, and reasons for visiting. Please remember to bring your USF ID card, and to sign in at the front desk.
Advising Appointments
Registration for Summer and Fall 2010 begins March 29, 2010. First year students MUST have an advising appointment prior to registration. Please call the Honors College office at 813-974-3087 and make an appointment with your advisor as soon as possible.

The National Collegiate Honors Council will be hosting its Annual Conference in Kansas City, Missouri from October 20-24, 2010. The theme of the conference is Rhythms and Currents.
The NCHC has extended its deadline for conference presentation proposal submissions because of weather issues. The new deadline is Friday, February 26, 2010 at 5:00 PM (central time). Complete details for submitting a proposal can be found at the conference website.
If you are planning to attend this conference, please contact Dr. Yavneh to see about a travel grant!
Call for volunteers! If you are interested in volunteering to help at the 8th Annual Undergraduate Research Symposium and Celebration on April 1, 2010, please email Mike Goren at goren@honors.usf.edu by March 1. The event is held in the Marshall Student Center and will run from 7:30am until approximately 3pm. Include your full name, phone number and availability on the day of the event ( ie. morning, all day, 9am-2pm, etc.). We will have an information session about the Symposium for all volunteers. Details about the session will be sent out at a later date. Freshpeople 5 credit will be given for 2 hours of volunteering
This year the abstract submission form for the Symposium is online. Students will access the submission form link through their UR profile. If you are interested in submitting your abstract but do not have a profile yet, please make one before the deadline for submissions. The link for the Symposium abstract submission form will become active on Monday, February 15. If anything changes concerning the date, we will announce it on www.ur.usf.edu.
Abstract Submission Deadline Announced for the 8th Annual Undergraduate Research Symposium and Celebration
The 8th Annual Undergraduate Research Symposium and Celebration is approaching fast. This year the event is going to be held on Thursday, April 1 in the Marshall Student Center.
The deadline to submit a poster or oral presentation abstract is Thursday, February 25th. The abstract submission guidelines have been posted on www.ur.usf.edu on the Symposium page.

USF has been given the honor of hosting Chicano artist, speaker, writer, and motivator Simon Silva. Of his own work, Silva says it "isn't exactly an idealized portrait of farm working." His body of work is comprised of bold and brilliant colors and offers powerful renderings of migrant workers, their families, and their respectable lives that are seldom shown. On Thursday, February 25th, a reception will be held in the Centre Gallery of MSC at 5:30 pm. Following, at 7 pm, Silva will be speaking in the Oval Theater. He will tell of his work, life, struggles and dreams. Admission is free, you are only asked to come, listen, and see.

Attention Honors College Pre-Health Profession Students.
Do you need a Committee Letter? The Application for the Health Professions Advisory Committee (HPAC) Committee Letter 2010 is now available!!! This is for students who are applying for admission to health professions programs that will start in Fall 2011.
If you would like to be included in future editions of "Know-a-BULL News", articles may be submitted for consideration to Dr. Silverman through the submission form. Submissions should be brief and well written. Links should be JPG images or PDFs.
