  • Biology for NonMajors Tutor Needed

    The Holcombe Scholars Program is currently looking for a tutor for Biology for Non-Majors (CRN 57663) for the Summer C session. Interested applicants MUST have an overall 3.3 GPA, have taken the course at USF, and received an A in the respective course. Applications should be submitted by following the link provided.

  • Thesis Presentation Day Schedule

    All Honors faculty and students are invited to join us for Thesis Day, April 27, 8:30 AM - 3:45 PM, here in ALN. Please check the program for topics or presenters about which /whom you may be curious.  Thesis Day is always the highlight of the semester - make sure to stop by and attend a couple of sessions. The presenters will appreciate your interest and support.

  • Permits and Thesis Permits Now Open

    Permit Requests and Thesis Registration Permit Requests are now open for Summer and Fall 2012. Most students should not need a permit, unless registering for a course that is restricted and has a permit on it, such as Thesis and IDH 4000. For all other courses, please try registering first and only apply for the permit if you receive a Major or College (or permit required) restriction. Permit and Thesis Permit requests are found on the Honors website under ONLINE FORMS. You will know when the permit has been put in as you will receive an email reply from the Permit Request.

    For Undergraduate Research, IDH 4910, please go to the Honors Website and look under Printable Forms. Click on the IDH 4910 contract and print. Fill out the contract, have your mentor sign it and return to Joan Field for Registration (for Summer or for Fall 2012).

  • USF Fulbright Day April 25 Student Workshop

    Wednesday, April 25 is USF Fulbright Day! If you are interested in research, teaching or postgraduate studying abroad, the Fulbright Progam might be for you!

    A student workshop will be held on April 25 at 3pm in the Preview Admissions Room (ALN 185). The workshop will featured speaker will be Walter Jackson, US Student Program Manager at Fulbright. The session will also include a student panel of former student Fulbright recipients.

  • Shaza Hussein - USF's First Udall Scholarship Recipient

    Shaza, an Honors College junior majoring in Environmental Science and Policy, was awarded the Udall Scholarship to support her research related to the environment. She was one of 80 students selected to receive the $5,000 scholarship.

    The Morris K. Udall and Stewart L. Udall Foundation is one of five federal foundations established by Congress established to increase the awareness of, the importance of, and promote the benefit and enjoyment of, the nation's natural resources as well as other goals.

  • Ryan Salazar - Fulbright Postgraduate Study Grant Recipient

    Congratulations to Ryan Salazar!

    Ryan, an Honors College senior majoring in Music Education has received a Fulbright Postgraduate Study Grant to the United Kingdom. Ryan is one of only 35 students who have received grants to the UK to pursue his graduate degree in Education at the Institute for Education -University of London.

    The Fulbright Program is the flagship international educational exchange program sponsored by the U.S. government and is designed to increase mutual understanding between the people of the United States and the people of other countries.

  • Michael Esteban Receives Hollings Scholarship

    Congratulations to Michael Esteban!

    Michael, an Honors College sophomore majoring in Civil Engineering received the NOAA Ernest F. Hollings scholarship. The Hollings Scholarship Program provides undergraduate students with awards that include academic assistance (up to a maximum of $8,000 per year) for full-time study during the 9-month academic year and a 10-week, full-time internship position during the summer at a NOAA facility.

  • Christie Campla Receives Goldwater Scholarship

    Congratulations to Christie Campla!

    Christie, an Honors College junior majoring in Cellular and Molecular Biology and Microbiology was awarded the Goldwater scholarship for excellence in research and scholarship. The one year scholarship will cover the cost of tuition, fees, books and room and board up to a maximum of $7,5000 per year.

  • Graduate Fellowship for Conflict/Peace Studies Deadline July 1

    The Rotary Peace Fellowship provides academic and practical training to prepare scholars for leadership roles in solving conflicts around the world. Fellows earn a masters-level degree or a professional development certificate in peace and conflict studies at one of six Rotary Peace Centers at leading universities in Australia, England, Sweden, Japan, the United States and Thailand.

    The 2013 Academic term deadline is 1 July 2012. Applications are available at: All Rotary Peace Fellowship applications need the endorsement of your local Rotary district.   • Sayeef Mirza Critical Language Scholarship Recipient

    Congratulations to Sayeef Mirza!  Sayeef, an Honors College senior majoring in Biomedical Sciences, was awarded the Critical Language Scholarship to study Arabic in Salalah, Oman for 10 weeks this summer.

    The Critical Language Scholarship (CLS) provides fully-funded group-based intensive language instruction and structured cultural enrichment experiences. A program of the United States Department of State, Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, the CLS Program offers intensive language institutes overseas in thirteen critical need foreign languages.

  • Fulbright Information Session with Walter Jackson April 25

    The Fulbright Program is a Merit Scholarship to fund postgraduate studies, english teaching or field work abroad.

    On Wednesday, April 25 at 3pm, Walter Jackson (Student Program Manager from Fulbright) will be giving a presentation about the Fulbright program. The event will be held in ALN 185 -Admissions Preview Room.

  • Tylenol Scholarship for Medical and related interests

    It is time to apply for the Tylenol Scholarship for people studying medicine and related areas.   The Tylenol scholarship provides funding to those who have committed to a career of caring.  They will award 40 students up to $10,000.  The USF deadline to apply is Tuesday May 1st. See Mr. Sam Waldron for more information.

Student Submissions

  • Med School Event

    There is an event for Pre-Med students hosted by the USF Medical
    Student Organization AAPI on the 25th of April, this Wed, from 6 to 8
    P.M. It will consist of the following events:

    A tour of the Medical School
    An inside look at the brand new Cadaver lab at USF
    A student panel of Medical Students, who will be doing a Q and A session
    Teach students how to give a physical

    It cost $10. If anybody has questions or concerns, they can contact me

    will be given a receipt to ensure they''re allowed to event, and there
    is a 30 seat limit.

    The Women In Need Foundation is currently looking for officers to fill our board of directors! Please visit for an application and a constitution which describes positions.
    Positions available will include Director of Advertising, Director of Member Education, and Director of Charitable Events & Fundraising. Our organization raises funds for women in domestic violence shelters and raises awareness in the Tampa community.
