Honors College

Dean's Update:

    Honors College Bulls Abroad: International Photography Exhibition


     Who: All USF Tampa Honors College students that have participated in an international experience between August 2014-August 2015.


    What: Contestants can submit up to 3 of their favorite pictures taken internationally.


    All entries must include:



    • Name

    • Major

    • Photo title

    • City, Country (where the picture was taken)

    • Date taken  

    • Type/name of trip (ex. USF in Florence Study Abroad, USF Honors College Costa Rica Volunteer Trip, DAAD Research Internship)


    Please keeping editing to a minimum. Email a high resolution digital copy to Indira Ranaweera at iranaweera@mail.usf.edu with the subject line "Honors Bulls Abroad" and the required information included in the email. Honors College students will vote to choose the finalists, and a panel of professional photographers will decide the winners.  Winning photographs will be displayed in a public exhibition. The top 3 winners will receive a scholarship prize! The picture and statement should be submitted to Indira Ranaweera at iranaweera@mail.usf.edu by August 1, 2015. It is strongly encouraged that pictures are submitted as soon as possible after the completion of the program. Please note that photos submitted to the Honors College photo contest may not be used for other photo competitions.

  • Permits and Course Descriptions

    Permits and Thesis Permits for Summer and Fall 15 registration are open.


    ALL Thesis Requests require a permit. For first semester thesis, please see your Honors Advisor and have them check the approval box for Thesis I approval.

  • New! - Congratulations to Lauren Richardson

    Lauren, a 2014 graduate of the Honors College, has received the TRIALS Scholarship. TRIALS is a unique partnership of NYU School of Law, Harvard Law School, and the Advantage Testing Foundation. She will spend five weeks this summer at Harvard Law School preparing for the LSAT, attending lectures and enhancing her interpersonal skills.

  • Congratulations to Ivana Lam

    Ivana, an Honors College senior, has been awarded Frost Scholarship to study at the University of Oxford. The Frost Scholarship will allow Ivana to complete an MSc in History of Science, Medicine and Technology.


    The Frost Scholarship funds current students of the State University System of Florida (SUSF) to study one-year, full-time master's courses in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM subjects) at the University of Oxford.

  • Congratulations to Kaitlin Deutsch

    Kaitlin, an Honors College senior, has been awarded a Frost Scholarship to study at the University of Oxford and a National Science Foundation (NSF) Graduate Research Fellowship Program (GFRP) Fellowship.

    The Frost Scholarship will allow Kaitlin to complete an MSc in Biodiversity, Conservation, and Management at the University of Oxford.

    The Frost Scholarship funds current students of the State University System of Florida (SUSF) to study one-year, full-time master's courses in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM subjects) at the University of Oxford.

    Michael has received the National Science Foundation (NSF) Graduate Research Fellowship Program (GRFP) Fellowship.

    The NSF GRFP Fellowship recognizes and supports outstanding graduate students in NSF-supported science, technology, engineering, and mathematics disciplines who are pursuing research-based Master's and doctoral degrees at accredited United States institutions.

    Congratulations to Steffanie Munguia!

    Steffanie, an Honors College junior majoring in Integrative Animal Biology and Environmental Science and Policy, has been awarded a Udall Foundation Scholarship for 2015, one of only fifty students to receive this award in the United States. The award is given for a commitment to the environment and awardees receive a $5,000 scholarship to support research related to the environment.

  • Fully Funded Scholarships to Attend Imperial College London for a Master's Degree

    Imperial College London Faculty of Medicine Master's Degrees Scholarships

    The Faculty of Medicine offers a diverse portfolio of full time and part time Master's courses for students from a range of backgrounds, including bio-science graduates, health professionals and engineers.

    They are currently accepting applications for their Faculty of Medicine Dean's Master's Scholarship programme which offers fully funded places to outstanding candidates who plan to study one of their Master's programmes (full list here: www.imperial.ac.uk/medicine/masters/) in the 2015/16 academic year.

    They are currently offering 5 fully-funded places for home/EU students which includes tuition fees and a £17,000 stipend and 4 fully funded places for overseas students which includes tuition fees and a £17,000 stipend

    The deadline for applications is April 30, 2015.

    Stephanie, an Honors College sophomore majoring in Biology, received an  Honorable Mention for her application to the Barry M. Goldwater Scholarship, the most prestigious undergraduate award for science research.

  • Congratulations to Kirsti Martinez

    Congratulations to Kirsti Martinez!

    Kirsti, an Honors College junior majoring in Environmental Biology and Environmental Science and Policy, was awarded the Barry M. Goldwater Scholarship, the most prestigious undergraduate award for science research. Kirsti is one of only 260 undergraduate sophomores and juniors in the United States to receive the $7,500 scholarship in the 2015-2016 academic year.

    Additionally, Kirsti is USF's first Goldwater recipient in another region - she was nominated and won in Wisconsin, her home state.

  • Congratulations to Sanil Reddy

    Congratulations to Sanil Reddy!


    Sanil, an Honors College junior majoring in Environmental Science, has been awarded the Critical Language Scholarship (CLS) to study beginner level Hindi in Jaipur, India for eight weeks this summer.

  • Congratulations to Jason Rodencal

    Congratulations to Jason Rodencal!

    Jason, an Honors College senior majoring in Cellular and Molecular Biology and Chemistry, has been awarded a Fulbright US Student Program Study Grant to study for a Master's Degree in Cancer Cell and Molecular Biology at the University of Leicester in the United Kingdom. Jason is one of only 46 U.S. students to study in the United Kingdom under the Fulbright program this year.

  • Congratulations to Shelby Thomas

    Shelby, an Honors College junior majoring in international business and international studies, has received the Critical Language Scholarship (CLS) to study Intermediate level Japanese in Hikone at the University of Shiga Prefecture for eight weeks this summer.  The Critical Language Scholarship award is fully funded by the United States Department of State, Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs.

  • Congratulations to Marcos Gonzalez!

    Marcos Gonzalez, an Honors College junior and Provost's Scholar majoring in Accounting, has received a Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship to study abroad in Buenos Aires, Argentina. At Asociación Internacional de Estudios (AIE) of Buenos Aires, he will take courses in politics, history and literature of Latin America that are taught entirely in Spanish. Marcos's goal through this study abroad program is to work alongside the economics department at USF as well as gain valuable firsthand experience through the program and use these resources as a catalyst for raising awareness of issues plaguing developing countries.

  • Congratulations to Evan Little

    Congratulations to Honors College Junior Evan Little! Evan has received a Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship to study abroad in Uppsala, Sweden. At Uppsala University, he will be able to continue his research in alternative energy in an environment of individual learning and self-discovery.

  • GTE Financial is Offering Scholarships

    GTE Financial, a not-for-profit credit union in the Tampa Bay area will be awarding scholarships of $2,500 to continuing full-time college students pursuing an undergraduate degree. Some of the requirements include 3.0 GPA or higher, outstanding academic achievement, leadership abilities, a dedication to community service, and being a member of GTE Financial. This scholarship also requires a 1,000 word essay. Applications will be accepted until June 3rd. You can apply online at www.gtefinancial.org/scholarships.
