Dean's Update:

  • New! - Spring Thesis I StudentsStart Now

    Hi there,

     You know if you are taking IDH 5956-the first thesis course in the Spring 2016 semester. If so, now is the time to start talking with faculty to find a thesis chair for your work. Please do not wait till next semester to do this. You will have only a few weeks to submit your prospectus (your thesis plan) to the Honors College. If you have questions, please make an appointment with your advisor or you can see Dr. Fogel by making an appointment with her at the front desk of the Honors College. Call 974-3087.

  • Paid Tutoring Position


    The Jenkins Scholarship Programs is looking for tutors for the Fall 2015 semester in the following courses:

    o PHY 2053 General Physics I

    o Precalc Algebra/Trigonometry (MAC 1147)

    Applicants MUST have an overall 3.3 GPA, have taken the respective course at USF, and have received at least an A- in the course. Applications should be submitted by following the link provided and clicking on the "Apply to be a paid tutor" link.

  • Spring 2016 Registration

    Spring 2016 Registration is approaching. The first day of registration is Monday, November 2, 2015.

    You may read about the available courses under Course Descriptions. In the green column on the Honors website, click on Current Students, scroll down to Course Descriptions (change the date to Spring 2016) and click submit. The course descriptions are updated daily to reflect new information from the instructors.

    Permits and Thesis Permits for Spring semester, 2016, are now open. The Permit form and Thesis Permit form can be found on the Honors website. Look in the green column along the left-hand side and click on Honors College Forms: Online Forms, and scroll down to the permit form you need. If you want to take IDH 4910, Undergrad Research, print out the contract found in Honors College Forms: Printable forms, have it completed and signed by your Research Mentor, and bring it to Joan Field. All Thesis classes require a permit. If you have problems registering for a course, request a permit for it. If you have any questions, please contact your advisor, or Ms. Field.




  • Free MCAT Prep Course Spring 2016

    Applications are now being accepted for the *FREE* Honors College/Chowdhari MCAT preparatory course to be offered during Spring 2016.  This 15-week non-credit course includes testing strategies, as well as content preparation.  Each week a different subject (biology, physics, inorganic chemistry, organic chemistry, and verbal reasoning) will be covered.  All materials, including study books and full length practice exams, will be provided at no cost to students due to a generous donation from the Chowdhari family.

    This course will be offered on Tuesday evenings from 6:00-9:00pm (location to be determined).  Attendance is required for every session.

    Interested students must demonstrate financial need, motivation for medical school, and sufficient academic pre-requisites for MCAT.  Financial need is strongly considered when applicants are selected.  To apply, submit a detailed personal statement (recommended length at least one page) describing financial need and future goals to Mr. Arnie Mejías:  Please include your UID#.  The application deadline is Friday, November 13, 2015.

  • Sports, Business, and Philanthropy: a Conversation with Jeff Vinik

    Jeff Vinik is the owner of the Tampa Bay Lightning and the Tampa Bay Storm - as well as principal with Strategic Property Partners.  An exceptional fund manager who has transitioned into new roles as an entrepreneur and civic leader, he is a sought-after speaker who inspires passion. 

    At this lecture, cosponsored by the USF Muma College of Business and the USF Honors College, the Duke and Harvard alumnus will discuss sports, business, and philanthropy - three of the cornerstones of his career.

O.N.S. - Office of National Scholarships

  • Learn how to write an effective personal statement for National Scholarship applications

    Please join us for an informational workshop on the process of writing a personal statement. We encourage current national scholarship applicants and students thinking about applying for a national scholarship in the future to attend. Two workshops will be given by writing consultant, Lacie Meier, on October 30 at 2:00pm in ALN 252, and November 13 at 1:00pm in ALN 252.   • Freshmen and Sophomores: Study Abroad in the United Kingdom next summer

    Join us for an informational workshop regarding the Fulbright UK Summer Institute Program and application process.  Participants in these programs will get the opportunity to experience an exciting academic program at a highly regarded UK University, explore the culture, heritage and history of the UK, and develop their academic ability by improving presentation, research, and communication skills.   • Looking for long term critical language study abroad

    Join us for an informational workshop regarding the Boren Scholarship application and application process. Boren Scholarships provide up to $20,000 to U.S. undergraduate students to study abroad in areas of the world that are critical to U.S. interests and underrepresented in study abroad, including Africa, Asia, Central & Eastern Europe, Eurasia, Latin America, and the Middle East.     Are you interested in healthcare? Do you have a passion for medicine? Is the science of caring your pursuit? If so, come and join in a casual discussion with several women working in various healthcare disciplines. Anticipated guest speakers will include physician, nurse practitioner and registered nurse. Venue will include opportunities to ask your questions face to face with women in the field. Learn about their experiences and explore your options!


  • Honors LLC Space Available for Spring

    Hello all! 

    The Honors LLC has a few spaces open for current Honors students to move into in the Spring semester.  The LLC has been a great opportunity for scholarship, resources, and community for many Honors students and has already started the year off with exciting events such as Star Wars Night, Tapas Night, and Trivia.

    Both current on-campus residents and off-campus/incoming students are welcome to apply for the availability. 

    Current on-campus students living outside the LLC can submit a room-change form by November 6th and move into the LLC immediately once approved. 

    Off-Campus or Incoming students can apply for housing and be considered for a space by November 15th. 

    BOTH types of applicants MUST EMAIL one of the Honors G.A.s expressing their interest in joining the LLC to be considered.

    Calling all First-year 7-Year students!

    Are you looking for a group of students who may understand what you are going through?  We are looking to start a 7-Year Group where you and your peers can get to know each other and form connections that will aid you as you complete your 7-Year journey.  Would you be interested in participating and finding others who are willing to support you through the process?  Please contact RA Andrew Sephien at or visit Juniper Hall POD 2200 to express your interest.

  • Interested in acting? Audition!

    Auditions For Directing I Class Showings

    Auditions are 11/29 from 1:40 to 3:00.  Please sign up for a time on the door of TAR 120.  You will need to prepare a 30-60 second monologue.  Callbacks will be scheduled individually.  You may be asked to participate in more than one piece if time allows.  The showing is 11/24, 1:30-3:15 pm.  You MUST be available for at least 30 mins during this time.

  • Bulls Service Breaks Information Night

    Bulls Service Breaks (BSB) is an organization dedicated to providing service trips during Spring Break for students at USF. Our trips cover a wide variety of social issues that provide direct, impactful service for our students. Come learn all about the BSB mission and application process at our BSB Information Night! The event will take place on Tuesday, November 17 in MSC 3707 from 6:00 - 7:30 pm. We will have our Board Members and Site Leaders around ready to answer your questions and give you all the necessary information to experience a life changing BSB trip!   • USF in Northern Ireland Study Abroad Opportunity

    Interested in learning about peace building and conflict reconciliation? Then join the Global and International Affairs Department for USF in Northern Ireland program on Conflict Transformation. Over the course of three weeks students will get the opportunity to attend lectures led by leading academics hosted by Queens University and will be able to visit locations around Belfast that have been impacted by this country's history. Some of the issues that will be addressed in these lectures and site visits are types of transitional justice, understanding conflict, mediating conflict, and inclusion and exclusion in transitional societies.

  • USF HOSA Future Health Professionals Princeton Raffle

    Looking for a Princeton course? USF HOSA is raffling one! Each ticket is $20 and you can submit more than one ticket. The winner of the raffle will be announced on Friday, December 4th, 2015 (end of fall semester). The last day to submit a ticket is Thursday, December 3rd, 2015. The winner can choose a MCAT, LSAT, GMAT, or GRE Princeton course.

    Buy a ticket during one of these times:

    1) HOSA General Meetings: MSC 2709, Tuesdays, 7:30pm-8:30pm, 10/6, 11/3, 11/24.

    2) HOSA Officer Meetings: MSC 3rd Floor CSI, Tuesdays, 7:30pm-8:30pm on weeks without general meetings.

    3) HOSA Office Hours: MSC 1st floor, Einsteins. Mondays: 4pm-5pm, Tuesdays: 2pm-3pm , Wednesdays: 11am-12pm, Thursdays: 2pm-3pm.

  • USF HOSA Future Health Professionals Club

    Are you interested or may be interested in a medical career? Are you looking for an organization to develop leadership skills and character but at the same time have fun and gain recognition at regional, state, and national competitions? Do you want to make a difference nation-wide towards HOSA's national service project of raising awareness and supporting the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society? Maybe you want to explore something new? This is the club for you!

    HOSA: Future Health Professionals aims to develop skills through motivation, recognition, and awareness to increase the delivery of compassionate, quality health care to the community. The national organization provides opportunities to increase knowledge, develop leadership skills, enhance character, gain friendships, build self-confidence, increase involvement in the local and national community, and so much more. Even if you're not interested in the medical field, this organization can help you become a more well-rounded individual!

    Our meetings dates are on Tuesdays (9/15, 10/6, 11/3, 11/24) from 7:30-8:30pm at MSC 2709. There will be free food! Come check us out!
