Dean's Update:

Check the Honors calendar to see the events we are hosting in the spring and sign up to those you wish to attend. Freshpeople, remember your 5 event obligation.

If you are entering USF as an Honors student in the fall of 2010 and want to live in the Honors Community, I would recommend that you make that request now. Go to housing's website and you can do that.

Like the other Living Learning Communities, Honors will charge a fee each semester for those who live in the Honors Community. This will begin fall 2010.

We are here during the break if you need anything.

• Blackboard Upgrade Related to Organizations
  
  
  The USF Blackboard system has recently been upgraded. Upon logging in, you may notice that there is no longer an Organizations tab on the main page. In order to add your list of organizations, click on the Add Module button (upper left hand side), scroll down and check My Organization Plus, and then submit.

• Undergraduate Award for Scholarly and Creative Excellence
  
  
  The Office of Undergraduate Research is pleased to announce the first USF Undergraduate Award for Scholarly and Creative Excellence.
  
  This award aims to recognize outstanding scholarly and creative activities of USF undergraduate students. Awards totaling up to $5000 will be awarded in three main categories: (1) Science and Engineering, (2) Humanities, and (3) Fine and Performing Arts. The deadline for submissions is February 1, 2010, and further details can be found on ur.usf.edu.

• College of Medicine Health Research Day Abstract Submission Deadline
  
  
  USF Health Research Day 2010 will be held on Friday, February 19, 2010. The year marks USF Health's 20th Anniversary. Research Day's agenda will include poster sessions, an invited graduate student oral presentations sessions, keynote lecture and an awards reception.
  
  The deadline for abstract submissions is Friday, January 15, 2010 by 5pm. Please visit http://health.usf.edu/medicine/research/home.html for more information concerning the event and abstract submission guidelines.

• Call for Poster Designs
  
  
  The 8th Annual Undergraduate Research Symposium and Celebration needs a new look, and you could be the designer! We are currently accepting submissions for a design that will be used on all posters, bookmarks, and postcards involved with the Symposium.
  
  The deadline for submissions will be January 20, 2010. Please send all submissions to Ms. Schumacher at lschumac@honors.usf.edu. To see previous designs, check our website at ur.usf.edu.

• 8th Annual Undergraduate Research Symposium and Celebration Submission Deadline Announced!
  
  
  The Office of Undergraduate Research would like to announce the paper and abstract submission deadline for the 8th Annual Undergraduate Research Symposium and Celebration on April 1, 2010.
  
  Oral (paper) and poster (abstract) submissions will be due to the Office of Undergraduate Research on February 25, 2010 at 4pm. Submission guidelines and instructions will be posted soon on ur.usf.edu. Please mark your calendars for this event!
