USF offers substantial scholarship support to students who have superior academic credentials. Financial need is not a requirement for most USF scholarships. However, all USF scholarships do have strict deadlines for application. We recommend that you begin your scholarship search process early your senior year of high school. USF-NSF S-STEM COMPUTATIONAL-SCIENCE SCHOLARSHIPS PROGRAM Honors College Scholarships The Honors College Scholarship of $2,000 ($500 per year for up to 4 years) provides all full-time students (except those who are already receiving National Merit/Achievement/Hispanic, Kosove, Jenkins, Holcombe, or Nolten Scholarships) with funds to cover the cost of participating in the Honors College at the Tampa campus. You may receive this award in addition to the Presidential Scholar Award. Eligible students must qualify for the Honors College, enroll in the university full-time (12 credits per term), register for an Honors core course (please see the Honors Curriculum page for additional information regarding courses that meet this criteria) and maintain a 3.2 USF GPA each semester. The Honors College also offers two competitive scholarships each year for incoming freshman students ONLY. These scholarships include: · George and Bobbe Karpay Scholarship for Excellence, pays full Florida-resident tuition · Business Ethics Scholarship (business major not required), pays $1,000 per semester for 4 years Jenkins, Ableidinger, & Holcombe Scholars Programs are also housed in the Honors College. The Honors College also offers a number of competitive scholarships each year for continuing students. These scholarships include, but are not limited to:
The above scholarships require a 3.5 USF GPA; completion of at least 2 Honors (IDH) courses by the end of Spring semester in which applying (Honors English, Honors Selected topics, and Discovery do not count); a history of substantive community, University and/or Honors service since entering USF. Students receiving National Merit, Hispanic or Achievement; Kosove or Jenkins scholarships are not eligible for the above scholarships. Students who recieve one of the scholarships above have an opportunity to have lunch with their donors. Check with your local library and community organizations, as well as the Internet for possible scholarship opportunities. Try the On-line Scholarship Search Access, FastWEB When choosing a college or university and comparing scholarship packages, it is important to look at your total out-of-pocket cost. The state university system in Florida is a great deal in higher education, costing about $2850 per year for tuition and books. Private schools may offer you a larger scholarship, but have a much higher tuition cost. As an academically talented student, you have many options. Look carefully at all of them.
